Dutchess County Residents Running Toward a Cure
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training program is offering two marathon events to interested members of Dutchess County, New York and surrounding counties. Team In Training is the world’s largest endurance sports training program. Team In Training (TNT) participants receive a comprehensive program to help participants achieve their goal of completing a marathon, half marathon, triathlon, and long distance bike ride, hike or swim.
Participants receive training from top-notch coaches, access to a network of local fitness partners, fundraising support, and the chance to be part of a powerful force that has raised more than$1.4 billion dollarsto fund research and treatment advances for cancer patients around the world.
Dutchess County has had a successful run program for TNT throughout the years. Their success is due to the ongoing commitment of coaches and mentors in the county who offer their expertise and time to participants in the area year after year.
The Lake Placid Full and Half Marathon has been this training group’s favorite event for many years. This year, The Lake Placid Full and Half Marathon is on June 12, 2016. In addition to this destination event, TNT has added a local marathon to the docket; The Walkway Full and Half Marathon out of Poughkeepsie, NY is also on June 12th. Therefore, this year the Dutchess County TNT run group will train together with the option of participating in either event.
So, whether you’re interested in a weekend in Lake Placid, or you’d prefer to stay local to complete your endeavor, the Dutchess County TNT run team will offer training for both events; both for beginners and experienced runners and walkers.
