Elderly Woman Who Thought She Won the Lottery Writes Man $8K in Checks: Police
A Queens man was arrested after he tried to withdraw the checks at a Floral Park bank Friday, police say.

An elderly woman was scammed into thinking she won the lottery and sent $8,4000 in checks to a 22-year-old Queens man’s bank account, police say.
According to authorities, Javis J. Mclean, of Cambria Heights, entered Capital One Bank, located at 170 Tulip Ave. in Floral Park, and attempted to withdraw money from an account he previously opened online at 12:38 p.m.
Police say two checks, $8,400 total, were deposited into Mclean’s account from Oct. 1 to 15 from an 84-year-old woman who was led to believe she won the lottery.
