Elmont Vocal Jazz Ensemble Earns Gold With Distinction At NYSSMA
The Elmont High Vocal Jazz Ensemble earned a Gold with Distinction rating at NYSSMA, the highest possible rating.

From the Sewanhaka Central High School District: The Elmont Memorial High School Vocal Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Mr. Benjamin Pesenti, participated in a NYSSMA Majors Ensemble evaluation at Hofstra University on May 20.
NYSSMA Majors is the standard for evaluating school performing ensembles throughout New York State. Student groups prepare three selections from a prescribed list of musical choices and perform this music for a panel of certified NYSSMA adjudicators. The adjudicators write and record both positive and negative comments on the performance. Based on their comments or critiques, the adjudicators produce a rating of either bronze, silver or gold.
The Elmont Vocal Jazz Ensemble received a rating of Gold with Distinction, the highest achievable rating from a NYSSMA Majors evaluation. Congratulations to the students for this outstanding achievement. This award is an example of what can be achieved when students work together tirelessly to create something special. Mr. Pesenti could not be prouder of them!
