I am enthusiastic about my friend and neighbor Ernest Gentile, a 35 year veteran of the FDNY, (retired with rank of Lieutenant) and who was a citywide interagency coordinator of the NYC Office of Emergency Management-is running for Fire Commissioner of the New Hyde Park Fire Department! He was a past Captain of the Fire Rescue Company of the same Fire Dept. he is running for Fire Commissioner. He is a life long resident of New Hyde Park; a long-time member in good standing along with his Brother Tommy as was their Father before them with the Elks, and a devoted Husband and Father of three! Ernie was elected to the School Board of the N.H.P.-G.C.P. School District, serving for ten years, and selected by his fellow trustees to be the President of the Board for six of those years! He was an innovator in creating a Capital Improvement Fund as well as keeping the line on the budget, while insisting on the high quality of education and the services the Schools provided the children be maintained! He was an excellent public administrator and a diligent protector of the taxpayers' trust as well as an energetic promoter of the public interest of the children and parents of the school district!
Ernie is a recognized expert in the N.Y.State and New York City laws, regulations and protocols for Fire Emergency training of the private company personnel of private buildings, as well as for Fire Evacuation and Fire Prevention Safety Training which he continues to provide as a consultant. Ernie is well regarded as a professional leader and an accomplished trainer - both in the Fire fighting community, as well as a responsible and accountable citizen of New Hyde Park! Ernie is what we in political science call a natural leader who creates community and respect out of his peers! What that means Is that he inspires his fellow citizens and firefighters to work diligently for the public interest! Let me congratulate the citizens of New Hyde Park for the fact we have such a dedicated citizen who wishes to continue his service for our community! Nat Cipollina, 22 Millers Lane
