Five Injured After Crash Causes Nissan To Strike Gas Pump, Police Say

A crash at the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike and Herman Boulevard injured five, police say.

FRANKLIN SQUARE, NY — Five people were hospitalized Sunday morning after a crash at an intersection caused a Nissan to careen into an Exxon gas pump, police said.

Nassau County police said the crash took place at 3:42 a.m. Sunday, with the Nissan traveling westbound on Hempstead Turnpike while a green Hyundai was traveling south on Herman Boulevard. The Nissan hit the Hyundai and then struck a gas pump at an Exxon station off of the turnpike, police said.

In the aftermath of the crash, five people were reported injured and taken to hospitals for treatment and evaluation, police said. Police did not report any arrests or charges stemming from the crash, but said an investigation into it is ongoing.
