Floral Park Woman Killed in Northport Motorcycle Crash

A 57-year-old Floral Park woman riding on the back of a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle was killed when police said an SUV crashed into the motorcycle and ejected her from her seat on Sunday evening.

According to authorities, a 66-year-old Northport woman was attempting to make a left hand turn into her driveway while driving her 2015 Toyota RAV4 eastbound on Fort Salonga Road, west of Sandy Hollow Road, when she struck a motorcycle that was traveling in the westbound lane at 5:35 p.m.

The woman who was riding on the back of the motorcycle, identified as Martha Garcia, was ejected from the vehicle, police said. Garcia was taken to Huntington Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Garcia’s boyfriend who was operating the motorcycle, identified as 53-year-old Floral Park resident James Losito, and the driver of the RAV4 were taken to Huntington Hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.
