Garage Explosion In Floral Park Draws Firefighting Response, Fire Marshal Says

Firefighters were called to a Floral Park home Wednesday after reports of a garage explosion, fire officials say.

FLORAL PARK, NY — Nassau County officials are investigating the cause of a garage explosion in Floral Park Thursday after personnel from five fire departments responded to the site of the blast and a subsequent fire, officials said.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office said the call for the fire came in at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, with the Floral Park Fire Department responding to “a reported garage explosion and fire” on Bellmore Street. With mutual aid from the Elmont, Garden City, New Hyde Park and Floral Park departments, the blaze was brought under control in 20 minutes by a force of 30 firefighters, officials said.

In the aftermath of the fire, officials said the Floral Park village building department is assessing structural damage to the garage while the fire marshal’s office and NCPD arson/bomb squad are investigating the cause of the fire, officials said.

There were no injuries reported in the fire, and no one was displaced as a result of it, officials said.
