Girl Scouts of Nassau County Honors Elmont Volunteers
GSNC recognizes the hard work of Laura Becker, Phalisa Dorsey, Karol Greaves, Alexis Greaves and Monica Porter
ELMONT, NEW YORK (AUGUST 2023) — Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) honored Elmont residents Laura Becker, Phalisa Dorsey, Karol Greaves, Alexis Greaves and Monica Porter at its 2023 Annual Adult Recognitions Award Ceremony and Dinner. The annual event recognizes and celebrates the adult volunteers who go above and beyond for their service to Girl Scouts of Nassau County and to their communities. Ms. Becker, Ms. Dorsey, Ms. Karol Greaves, Ms. Alexis Greaves and Ms. Porter were among 100 honorees throughout Nassau County.
“Girl Scouts of Nassau County could not thrive without the hard work, commitment and support of all our community volunteers. Each honoree recognized at our Adult Recognitions Award Ceremony and Dinner has made a significant impact on our organization and help shape the Girl Scout experience for the girls we serve. Thanks to their contributions, we are able to continue building girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place,” said Randell Bynum, the CEO of Girl Scouts of Nassau County.
Laura Becker earned the GSUSA Honor Pin for her exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) and having a measurable impact on two or more geographic areas of service.

Phalisa Dorsey was awarded the GSNC Spirit Award and Courage, Confidence and Character Certificate for continuing to share her knowledge of Girl Scout traditions with leaders and girls in her community,
Karol Greaves was honored with the GSNC Spirit Award for continuing to serve girls in the community despite not having her own daughter in a troop.

Alexis Greaves earned the GSNC Diversity Award for proving her stalwart leadership by giving herself to her troop for so many years despite also not having a daughter in a troop.
Monica Porter was honored with the GSUSA Appreciation Pin for continuing to work with Girl Scouts virtually and her exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE).
