Voters Approve Herricks School Budget, Board Members Elected
Residents headed to the polls Tuesday to vote on a school budget and elect board members.

Herricks residents approved a 2017-18 school budget on Tuesday.
The $111,215,736 budget passed with a final result of 1,070 yes votes and 352 no votes, according to the school district. The budget is a .82 percent spending increase over the current year and it comes with a 1.62 percent tax levy increase.
Voters also elected Tara James Gounaris and Henry R. Zanetti to the Herricks Board of Education.

A statement on the school district's website: "Our Board and Administration worked diligently to develop a budget that continues to support all programs and opportunities for students while carrying only a minimal increase and remaining within the allowable tax levy cap.
We appreciate the efforts of and thank everyone in the community who participated in the budget development process and all those who express a continued interest in our schools."
