The June 3 USA Track and Field, LI Division 8K Championship Race

All are welcome to participate in this wonderful yearly Championship 8K Race, Children's Fun Run, and Community Event. Our 41st year!

On June 3rd 2018, the New Hyde Park-Mineola Running Club is having it annual 8K race, children’s fun run and community event, at the at the Denton Avenue School in NHP/Herricks. The Club manages the USA Track and Field, LI Division 8K Championship Race, for individual and team scoring. This is the 41st year. It is one of the oldest races on LI, we are one of the oldest running clubs. All are welcome.

The children's fun run at 8 am is a nice thing to cheer on. NYS Senator Elaine Phillips has graciously scheduled to kick off the main 8K event at 8:30 am—the Senator is a generous sponsor of this year’s event. Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth is a long time sponsor, and has graciously scheduled to announce the category winners and award trophies at the conclusion. The event has excellent post race raffle prizes.

The yearly event raises funds for the Nassau County Firefighter’s Operation Wounded Warrior Program and local scout troops. The NHP-M Runner’s Club donated $4,000 to the NCFF-OWW program from the proceeds of its 2017 event, and $500 to Boy Scout Troop 298. In the last seven years we have donated more than $25,000 to the NCFF-OWW program and more than $5000 to scout troops, civics, and athletic organizations. The NC firefighter program provides benefits to wounded veterans throughout LI, above and beyond what the VA provides. The NHP-M Runners Club are all volunteers, who are proud to give back to the community. The more people are able to participate in the event, the more we are able to give back to the community.
