Man Escapes Attempted Assassination In Nassau

Police say he was forced to stop his car, and then a man fired multiple gunshots into it, striking him twice. Police say he was targeted.

Nassau Police are investigating an attempted murder that left one man with two gunshot wounds.

According to police, while driving home on Executive Drive near Old Courthouse Road in North New Hyde Park at 7:15 p.m. Monday, a 62-year-old man was cut off by a dark sedan, and then forced to stop on the side of the road. A male passenger of the sedan got out, walked up to the man's car and fired multiple gunshots into it, hitting him twice.

The man quickly drove away and took himself to a nearby hospital, where he was admitted for a gunshot wound to his upper arm and another to his hand.

Police say the man was likely targeted and are continue to investigate the motive for the shooting. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous, and you could receive a cash reward if your information leads to an arrest.
