Man Threatens To Stab Floral Park Auto Shop Employee: Police

BREAKING: The man was arrested for robbery on Monday morning, police say.

A man was charged with robbery after police say he threatened to stab an employee who confronted him for stealing from Floral Park auto shop on Monday morning.

According to authorities, Royce Potts, 46, of Queens, walked out of Advance Auto, located at 2 Jericho Turnpike, without paying for windshield wiper blades at 8:30 a.m. When he was confronted by an employee in the parking lot, he displayed a knife and threatened to stab the man, police say.

Potts then entered his vehicle and fled the scene, police say.

Authorities were notified and responded to the scene. Information received by investigating officers led to the arrest of Potts in Bellerose a short time later without incident.

Potts was charged with first-degree robbery and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He will be arraigned Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
