Dormers Construction went up against the highly favored Fitness Revolution.  Fitness Revolution were strong this season, but for Dormers – “it ain’t over till it’s over” was the sentiment – and it wasn’t over for Dormers who stood their ground and prevailed against Fitness Revolution, winning the game, 8-4, sending Fitness into the consolation round.

The next round of games came in-between the rain, as Nuzzi Construction played Village Justice Devane. Nuzzi Construction opened up with a run, as the O’Shea boys quickly combined forces to score. Anthony O’Shea got on base with a nice single, and brother Nicky drove him home with a triple. Devane Justice answered right back as Dan Laughlin walked to get on base and Julian Belardo doubled for an RBI. Justice’s bats of Justin Obedienzo, Dillon Henning and Nick Parente, all loaded the bases before Michael Guglielmo creamed the ball with a triple to centerfield, making it 4-1 Devane Justice.

Nuzzi Construction then battled back, but lefty Justin Obedienzo was on fire on the mound. Nicky O’Shea got on base and stole his way home, adding a run for a score of 4-2. Justice wanted a few more insurance runs, so Chris Simms and Neal Mehta both hit for RBIs making the score 6-2. Julian Belardo hit a long fly ball going past the score board, but quick-moving left fielder, Aldo Mancin, got it in to hold Belardo to a triple.

Nolan Lee, Louis Messina and Steven Brendel weren’t ready to give up for Nuzzi as they fought back with a hit parade of their own. It was cut short as Nick Parente caught a base runner in a pick off at third, combined with solid pitching from hard throwing reliever Julian Belardo, to end the game with a 9-3 win sending Nuzzi Construction to the consolation round.

Fitness Revolution won the consolation round against Nuzzi Construction, winning third place, and Dormers Construction battles Village Justice Devane for the Championship Title on Thursday, June 20. Stay tuned for scores and details.
