New Principal And Assistant Principal Appointed

The New Hyde Park-Garden City Park School District has a new principal at one of its schools, and a new district-wide assistant principal.

NEW HYDE PARK, NY — A new principal and assistant principal in the New Hyde Park-Garden City Park School District were appointed last month at a board of education meeting, the school district announced.

Jane Ruthkowski will serve as principal of Manor Oaks School, and Diana Weaver will be the assistant principal, district-wide. Both were appointed at the July 8 board of education meeting.

Ruthkowski is joining NHP-GCP with more than eight years of experience as a principal, most recently serving in the Eastport-South Manor School District. While there, she led to the implementation of many crucial programs for the students, as well as designed and provided professional development for teachers.

Ruthkowski earned her Bachelor of Arts in social sciences — interdisciplinary from Stony Brook University, her Master of Science in special education, K-12 from Dowling and her educational administration certifications from Hofstra University.

Weaver, a Floral Park resident, comes from the neighboring Floral Park—Bellerose School District, where she was a special education teacher for the past 10 years. During her time there, she also served as the after-school program co-coordinator and lead staff facilitator for professional development.

She holds both her Bachelor of Arts in education and her Master of Arts from St. John’s University. Weaver earned her school building leadership certificate from The College of Saint Rose.
