Parker Jewish Institute establishes new Health Workforce Training

Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitations is helping full-time employees earn college credits while they learn to speak Spanish. This is thanks to a new Health Workforce Training Program at Parker.

The program is available through a grant, which is jointly managed by the New York State Departments of Health and Labor. Through the program, Parker employees can enroll in an accredited college to study Spanish and earn college credits, for free.

The ability to speak Spanish is becoming increasingly important in health care in order to meet the growing needs of the region. Parker employees who can communicate in Spanish build trust and understanding with patients and residents who speak the language, helping to ensure continued quality care. In addition, these language skills often allow patients, residents and their families to feel at ease.

Parker’s Health Workforce Training Program enables its employees to grow not only professionally, but also personally, providing the potential for expanded career opportunities.
