Playground In Herricks Built With $125K Grant

The playground offers ​equipment for different age groups, an upright piano, a glockenspiel and more.

The new Harbor Child Care playground at the Herricks Community Center was built using $125,000 in state funds.

“Children need recreation and a place to safely play where they can climb and use their imaginations,” Assemb. Anthony D’Urso, who secured the funding, said in a press release. “This playground will be able to provide the children with hours of safe fun playing.”

  • Equipment for different age groups
  • Upright piano
  • Glockenspiel
  • Weather station— for preschoolers to learn about the weather
  • Tables and seats for children to sit outside
  • Entire area resurfaced with a rubber surface for safety
