Restaurant Replacing Steak & Sushi Is Hiring

New Mexican restaurant, expected to open in February, advertises for staff.

The restaurant that will take over the space occupied by the now closed Two Steak & Sushi Den has been looking for new workers all week.

An ad on Craigslist reads, “New restaurant concept comes to Nassau County Long Island. The Long Island debut of K.Pacho. All positions needed for new restaurant concept,” at the 1270 Union Turnpike address.

Two Steak & Sushi Den, which opened in March of 2010, will reopen in February as a casual Mexican restaurant, according to Newsday. Jay Grossman, partner in Steak & Sushi, said the new restaurant will offer “food and cocktails that are accessible to everyone. It won’t be a special occasion place — the point is to resonate with everyday guests.”

Grossman said that he and chef-partner James McDevitt streamlined the original menu and tried to harness prices, but the restaurant never really found its audience.

Grossman was approached by an investment group a few months ago that wanted to put together a fun, casual concept, but using Two Steak & Sushi Den as the location.

The Craigslist ad describes the new plan as a “Hi energy and fast paced restaurant with strong bar/lounge component seeks all positions.

“Experience is a plus but an out going, friendly and positive personality is a must. Available positions include wait staff, bartenders, bar backs, bussers, hosts and more.”

Job seekers are invited to apply from 4 to 7 p.m., through Friday, at the site.
