Rock Thrown At Jeep Injures 3-Year-Old Girl On Cross Island Parkway

The girl was seated next to the window when it shattered, police say.

A rock thrown at a moving vehicle on the Cross Island Parkway injured a 3-year-old girl in the back seat on Friday night, police say.

According to authorities, a 38-year-old woman was driving a 2015 Jeep northbound near Superior Road in Bellerose Terrace when she heard a noise and noticed the rear passenger-side window was shattered at 8:25 p.m. The woman's 3-year-old daughter was seated next to the window and was struck by the shattered glass, police say.

The woman exited the parkway and called police. A FDNY ambulance responded to the scene and transported the child to a local hospital were she was treated for abrasions and released.

Police say a rock thrown from the side of the parkway was found inside the rear of the vehicle.
