Sewanhaka, NHP-GCP, Herricks: School Budget, Board Election Voter's Guide
What you need to know for election day.

Sewanhaka Central High School District
Sewanhaka residents will vote on the school district’s $184,143,004 proposed budget for the 2016-17 school year on Tuesday, May 17.
The proposal calls for a 2.98 percent increase in spending over the current year and a 0.40 percent tax levy increase, which is within the state’s tax cap.

Trustees Joseph Armocida and Joan Romagnoli have elected to give up their seats on the Sewanhaka Board of Education. Their respective elementary school boards will appoint replacements in July.
Residents can vote in their local elementary school election districts.
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
New Hyde Park-Garden City Park
NHP-GCP residents will vote on the school district’s $37,527,240 proposed budget for the 2016-17 school year on Tuesday, May 17.
The proposal calls for a 1.99 percent increase in spending over the current year and a 0.38 percent tax levy increase, which is within the state’s tax cap.

Four candidates are running for three seats on the NHP-GCP Board of Education, according to Newsday.
Candidates include:
Seat 1:
- Patricia Rudd
- Shamini Sivalingam
Seat 2:
- Ernest Gentile (running unopposed)
Seat 3:
- Jennifer Kerrane (running unopposed)
Residents can vote at Manor Oaks School library, located at 1950 Hillside Ave. in New Hyde Park. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Herricks
Herricks residents will vote on the school district’s $110,310,540 proposed budget for the 2016-17 school year on Tuesday, May 17.
The proposal calls for a 1.91 percent increase in spending over the current year and a 0.16 percent tax levy increase, which is within the state’s tax cap.

Two candidates are running for one seat on the Herricks Board of Education.
Candidates are:
- Juleigh Chin
- Andrew Apicos
Residents can vote at the Herricks Community Center, located at 999 Herricks Road in New Hyde Park.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
