Transgender Category Added to Town of North Hempstead Anti-Discrimination Law
The Town of North Hempstead recently broadened its Anti-Discrimination Law to better protect transgendered persons.

An amendment to better protect transgendered persons from discrimination was recently approved at a Town of North Hempstead board meeting.
A transgender category was unanimously approved to be included in the Town of North Hempstead’s Anti-Discrimination Law on Tuesday.
The amendment will more broadly define gender within the Anti-Discrimination Law.

This means that people who work for the Town of North Hempstead, or for businesses within the town cannot be discriminated against based on their gender.
The term “gender identification” will be added as a category of protected cases within the Anti-Discrimination Law. Supervisor Judy Bosworth and members of the North Hempstead Town Board all approved the addition.
