Unattended 4-Year-Old Recovered In Smoke Shop Sweep: Police
The girl's mother was arrested at the smoke shop Wednesday afternoon, police say.
BELLEROSE TERRACE, NY. — A 31-year-old Floral Park woman is in police custody Thursday after police said she left her four-year-old daughter unattended in a second-floor apartment while illegally selling THC products at a Bellerose Terrace smoke shop.
Nassau County police said an investigation uncovered that 31-year-old Jaspira K. Thomas had sold THC and a substance police believed to be marijuana out of Hempire, a smoke shop on Jericho Turnpike. In the same investigation, police said a large quantity of additional THC and cannabis products were on display for sale at the smoke shop. Thomas was arrested, and an investigation revealed that she had left her four-year-old daughter unattended in a second-floor apartment above the smoke shop, police said.
Thomas is scheduled for arraignment Thursday, police said. She faces one fifth-degree count of criminal sale of a controlled substance, two fifth-degree counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, one count of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of unlawful sale of cannabis, police said.

As for the four-year-old girl, police said she was released into the custody of a family member.
