Vivo Health Pharmacy Earns Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation

Vivo Health Pharmacy, a member of Northwell Health, has been fully accredited as a specialty pharmacy by the Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC).

Less than one percent of all pharmacies in the United States – about 220 – have earned full URAC Accreditation for Specialty Pharmacy. Vivo Health Pharmacy received perfect scores for all standards, which reflects its commitment to quality and excellence. Specialty pharmacies service patients with complex and chronic diseases and often require medication that can be complicated to adhere to, difficult to access and expensive.

Many payers and pharmaceutical companies require URAC specialty pharmacy accreditation to participate in their network. This three-year designation, which runs to February 2020, allows Vivo Health Pharmacy to strengthen its relationship with both manufacturers and insurers.

“URAC Accreditation is the gold standard for specialty pharmacies,” said Onisis Stefas, Pharm.D, vice president of pharmacy operations at Northwell Health. “This accreditation reinforces our dedication to providing high quality care to our patients. We are very proud that all four of our Vivo Health pharmacies received full URAC accreditation.”

Vivo Health Pharmacy, which features a 24-hour clinical call center, has locations at three Northwell Health facilities – North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, LIJ Medical Center in New Hyde Park and the Center for Advanced Medicine in Lake Success – along with the Vivo Health Specialty Pharmacy in New Hyde Park.
