14-Year-Old Driving Stolen BMW Leads Police On Wild Chase: WCPD

After a crash on the Hutch, the car chase turned into a foot pursuit and the eventual recovery of a gun, drugs and the stolen car.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — A 14-year-old carrying $4,100 in cash and driving a stolen BMW was arrested after leading police on a wild car chase on Thursday.

In all, Westchester County Police arrested four suspects following a car chase that ended in a crash. In addition to the stolen BMW, a loaded handgun and illegal narcotics were recovered, according to officials.

Things heated up just after 11 a.m. when the Real Time Crime Center broadcast an alert that a stolen BMW was traveling on the northbound Hutchinson River Parkway. An officer located the car as it exited the Hutch at Weaver Street.

The driver would not pull over, but instead returned to the Hutch and traveled southbound. Near the Cross County Parkway, the stolen BMW sideswiped two cars before its four occupants jumped out and ran off.

One suspect was captured by WCPD officers after a pursuit in the woods next to the parkway. The other three were taken into custody on local streets in Mount Vernon with the assistance of the Mount Vernon Police Department.

A loaded 9 mm Canik handgun, 46 grams of illegal narcotics and the stolen 2021 BMW X5 were recovered, according to police.

Kyree Harris, 21, of Newark, New Jersey was charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon, felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of stolen property.

Qiyon Stewart, 21, also of Newark, was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and released on an appearance ticket. He is due in Mount Vernon City Court on April 13.

Two juveniles, ages 14 and 17, were also charged in connection with the stolen car, released to relatives and ordered to appear in Westchester County Family Court.
