2 Hudson Valley Cities Most Diverse In America: WalletHub
The cities were scrutinized for socioeconomic, cultural, economic, household and religious diversity

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Two Hudson Valley cities are considered to be in the Top 20 of the Most Diverse Cities in America, according to analysts at WalletHub. New Rochelle came in at No. 18 and Yonkers was right behind at No. 19. The most diverse city in America was New York City.
WalletHub compared 501 of the most populated cities — limiting each state to no more than 10 cities each. The cities were scrutinized for socioeconomic diversity, cultural diversity, economic diversity, household diversity and religious diversity.
Mount Vernon came in as the 101st most diverse city in the nation.

Additionally, New Rochelle and Mount Vernon were ranked 6th and 32nd, respectively, in the Small City category.

Yonkers was ranked 5th in the Mid-Size City category.
Large cities were those with more than 300,000 residents. Mid-size cities were 100,000 to 300,000, and small cities were those with fewer than 100,000 residents.
New Rochelle was also the fourth most diverse city in educational attainment.
So why wasn’t a city such as Peekskill on the list as being diverse?
WalletHub limited the number of cities that could be considered to up to 10 per state.
Other New York cities on the national most diverse list were New York City, No. 1; Syracuse, No. 184; Buffalo, No. 197; Schenectady, No. 222; Rochester, No. 238; Albany, No. 248, and Cheektowaga, No. 393.
