2 Overturned Semitrailers Close Stretch Of New England Thruway

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A crash involving two overturned semi trucks brought traffic on I-95 to a near standstill this morning, as weather conditions made travel hazardous.

UPDATE: According to the NYS Thruway Authority the accident scene has been cleared and all lanes are open as of 4:45 p.m. Saturday.

The accident scene on the New England Thruway southbound between Exits 16 and 17 in Westchester County closed all lanes, according to the New York State Police. The left southbound lane was not reopened until shortly before noon. At one point, stopped traffic backed up as far as Mamaroneck exits as emergency crews went to work at the scene.

A state police dispatcher told weather.com no one was injured in the incident.

According to NBC 4 News New York City, less than 20 minutes later, another tractor trailer jackknifed at mile marker 7.1 in Larchmont, closing the right lane of southbound traffic.
