$3000 SUEZ Scholarships Now Open To Hudson Valley Students

The academic scholarships are being offered to seniors interested in a water industry career who live in SUEZ service areas in New York.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — An unexpected way to help pay for higher education might be on tap for graduating seniors in the Hudson Valley.

SUEZ and the National Association of Water Companies-New York Chapter are offering eight $3,000 scholarships to New York high school graduating seniors who plan to pursue a degree in a water industry-related field.

The NAWC is a professional organization representing private water service companies throughout the United States. Through the NAWC's scholarship program, the organization hopes to encourage young people to pursue careers in fields related to the water industry.

"As the water industry becomes more complex, so does the need for enthusiastic, intelligent and highly motivated young people who have the educational background to lead the industry forward," VP of SUEZ New York Operations Chris Graziano said. "These scholarships help bright seniors obtain higher education that strengthens the future of the country's water industry."

This scholarship is being offered to high school seniors living within SUEZ service areas in New York, including Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties, who meet the following criteria:

  • U.S. citizen
  • NY resident for at least 5 years
  • Pursuing a degree at a college/university (two-year/four-year) as an undergraduate student (part-time/full-time).
  • Maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale.
  • Enrolling in a curriculum related to the water utility industry or related fields, such as natural resource management, environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, engineering, computer science, environmental law, etc.

Completed applications must be submitted by April 15, 2022. The winners will be announced in June.
