44-Year-Old Who Defied Mugger Is Repeatedly Stabbed
The Yonkers man suffered "non-life-threatening injuries" in what appears to have been a failed robbery attempt, Mount Vernon Police say.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — A Yonkers man suffered non-life-threatening injuries in what appears to be an attempted robbery, police said.
At about 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Mount Vernon police responded to a report of a man stabbed on West Fifth Street. Police soon found 44-year-old Derek Fox, of Yonkers, suffering from stab wounds to his right arm and right side of his back. Fox told cops that he was approached by an unknown man who demanded money and when he refused, he was stabbed.
Fox was taken to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx for treatment and is expected to make a complete recovery.

Mount Vernon police are asking anyone with information about this stabbing to contact the MVPD Detective Division at 914-665-2510. All calls will be kept confidential, according to police. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the MVPD "Text-A-Tip" by texting "MVPD" and your tip to 847411. Information can also be sent anonymously using the "Mount Vernon PD" app in the Google Play and Apple Store.
