NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Seven Iona Preparatory School scholar-athletes recently committed to playing collegiate sports as part of the school year’s first National Signing Day, including five future Division I athletes.
Joined by classmates, coaches and family in an ESPN-style event, the following Gaels committed:
- Pedro Bravo – Track & Field, Wake Forest University (D-I)
- Douglas “Chip” Cameron – Lacrosse, Colgate University (D-I)
- Anthony DeFabbia – Baseball, Stetson University (D-I)
- A.J. Kovacs – Wrestling, NC State University (D-I)
- Stephen Krug – Lacrosse, Muhlenberg College (D-III)
- Kevin O’Connor – Lacrosse, Franklin & Marshall (D-III)
- Danny Riccio – Lacrosse, Furman University (D-I)
“This is one of the best days of the year to be a Gael. After all the hard work, sacrifice and dedication these young men have shown, today is a day to celebrate,” said Athletic Director Bernard A. Mahoney. “And this is just the beginning. We can’t wait to see all that is still to come for these tremendous scholar-athletes.”
