After Abrupt New Rochelle Shift To Remote, Resources Available

Student, families and faculty didn't have much time to prepare for a temporary return to remote instruction, but help is available.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — At the start of the school year, when it still looked like a commitment to in-person classes would be unfaltering, the New Rochelle School District announced that it had secured funding to continue providing free lunches even as students returned to classrooms — officials won't let an unexpected return to remote classes disrupt the initiative.

Due to escalations in the COVID-19 pandemic in the face of the omicron variant, the City School District of New Rochelle will provide virtual learning, instead of in-person learning in schools, from Jan. 3 through Jan. 7.

The Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle is again providing a remote learning hub while in-person classes are not available this week. Registration is open to children of essential workers in Kindergarten through grade 5. The supervised learning space is also available to Boys & Girls Club members.
