NewYork-Presbyterian Opens 2026 Community Fund Applications for Local Nonprofits

NEW YORK — Non-profits in our area have a chance to earn an infusion to support critical work, but the deadline is coming up soon.

NewYork-Presbyterian has opened applications for its 2026 Community Fund, a grant program for community-based organizations working in neighborhoods with high rates of health disparities. The hospital said the fund is its largest grant opportunity for community-based organizations, with an additional $2.1 million budgeted for the 2026 cycle.

A minimum of seven community-based organizations will be selected for the two-year grant, according to the announcement. Priority will be given to organizations that address housing insecurity and food insecurity. Awards will range from $75,000 to $150,000 per year for up to two years, with a maximum total award of $300,000 per organization.

The Community Fund was launched in 2024 to improve health and well-being in affected neighborhoods. To date, NewYork-Presbyterian said it has invested $4.15 million across 17 community-based organizations through the program.

"NewYork-Presbyterian is proud to support our community-based organizations through the Community Fund as we work together to address the challenges many New Yorkers face that impact their health," said Anne Sperling, senior vice president of government and community affairs at NewYork-Presbyterian. "Through the Community Fund, NewYork-Presbyterian is making meaningful, sustained investments in the communities we serve."

According to the announcement, the fund is directly informed by findings from NewYork-Presbyterian’s Community Health Needs Assessment, or CHNA. The hospital described that report as a triennial assessment that uses public data and individual feedback to understand community needs, assets and priorities, while identifying health disparities among residents.

The program is also aligned with the New York State Prevention Agenda, which the announcement described as a framework to improve the health and well-being of people in New York.

Organizations eligible for the 2026 Community Fund must be not-for-profit, religious or government agencies with a clear community service mission and a minimum annual operating budget of $1 million. Proposed projects must align with one of the priority social determinants of health identified through the CHNA and show the ability to deliver measurable and continued impact.
