Hundreds of families from New Rochelle and the surroundings towns came to Atwood Park in New Rochelle on August 4 to enjoy a warm summer day, but also to get information from vendors about bettering their lives at the annual New Rochelle National Night Out, organized by the New Rochelle Police Department (NRPD). New Rochelle's first responders had a chance to talk to their community about safety and the best ways to protect their families in everyday life.

One organization, NCADD Westchester, was there with a table offering Narcan samples, as well as to discuss addiction recovery and how to educate those who want a career as an instructor in the New York State certified CASAC and CRPA programs.

"It's very important for people to know that there is a life after addiction and we teach that people can have a prosperous life following those dark times," said long-time NCADD instructor Patricia Greene. "So it's great seeing families and kids having a wonderful time here, but also to get information from so many causes like us."

This annual New Rochelle event had many games for the kids, different types of foods, plus there were emergency equipment demos, a bubble bus, young children's activities, DJ and even an aviation flyover.
