NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A disturbing domestic violence incident has been linked to a fugitive already wanted in connection to a double homicide, police said.

On Sunday, at 4:39 a.m., New Rochelle police responded to 1st Street on a report of a serious domestic assault. At the scene, officers learned that the victim, a 31-year-old woman, had sustained significant injuries to her face and eye after being pistol-whipped.

The suspect was identified as 42-year-old Ronald Rashad Givhan, of Brooklyn. Although initial reports indicated that Givhan was still inside the apartment, officers determined he had fled prior to their arrival. Investigators later confirmed that Givhan was also wanted by the NYPD in connection with a double homicide that occurred in the Bronx in June 2026, NRPD said.

New Rochelle Police Department detectives, working with the FBI and NYPD, tracked Givahan to an apartment in Brooklyn. On Monday, New Rochelle detectives, NYPD detectives, and the FBI took Givhan into custody. A firearm was recovered at the scene, according to police.

Givhan, who is currently in NYPD custody for the Bronx homicide, will be charged with first-degree assault in New Rochelle. After charges for that crime are formally filed with the Westchester County District Attorney's Office, New Rochelle court dates will be scheduled.

"The New Rochelle Police Department extends its appreciation to both the FBI and the NYPD for their assistance and cooperation throughout this investigation," the department said in a statement on Tuesday.
