Iona University's 53rd Annual Winged Foot Golf Outing Raises $566,000 for Student Scholarships (iona.edu) — Iona University's recent Winged Foot golf outing raised a record $566,000 for student scholarships, directly supporting many who study on the New Rochelle campus. For local families, the long‑running partnership with Winged Foot means more financial aid opportunities and continued investment in a university that's growing its programs, rankings, and regional footprint close to home.
4. AGZA and New Rochelle, N.Y., partner for green landscaping initiative (landscapemanagement.net) — New Rochelle is rolling out a new Sustainable Landscaping Initiative to replace noisy, gas-powered equipment with cleaner battery-electric tools across city parks, local businesses, and homes. Backed by more than $200,000 in state grant funding, the program offers education, demonstrations, rebates, and vouchers so municipal crews, landscapers, and residents can create quieter neighborhoods, healthier yards, and AGZA-certified Green Zones throughout the community.
5. 46 Years of Music. A Whole New Sound for Summer (yonkerstimes.com) — New Rochelle's own Songcatchers used support from the New Rochelle Campership Fund and state arts grants to keep its weeklong Camp Songcatchers affordable for families this August. The organization is now gearing up for its After School Music Program, inviting local children ages 7–13 to sign up and community members to volunteer as music instructors.
