NEW ROCHELLE, NY — An overnight shooting in a downtown retail district left at least one person wounded, according to New Rochelle police.
On Sunday, at 10:46 p.m., New Rochelle Police Department officers responded to multiple calls reporting gunfire on Harrison Street. Officers arrived within minutes and found a man lying in front of the deli at that location. He was conscious, but bleeding from the back of his head, according to police.
Officers immediately focused on ensuring the man received medical attention. Emergency medical personnel arrived quickly, provided on-scene care, and took him to the hospital. The shooting victim is listed in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries, according to NRPD.
Authorities said the victim's name is being withheld.
An anonymous witness reported seeing two men dressed in all black running toward Cedar Street shortly after the shooting, according to police.
The New Rochelle Police Department is asking anyone who may have information to contact Detective Diaz of the General Investigations Unit at 914-654-2270, or the police non-emergency line at 914-654-2300.
"Community assistance is vital to supporting this ongoing investigation," NRPD said in a statement.
