Anti-Violence Rally Set For New Rochelle
The rally is being held in the wake of violent incidents, one of which resulted in the stabbing death of a 16-year-old.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — An anti-violence rally has been scheduled for New Rochelle for 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10. It will be held at Huguenot Park directly to the right of the children’s library on North Avenue.
Organizers said that a group of lifelong New Rochelle residents and friends are hosting the event so families, teachers, residents, business owners and students can come together as a community and stand up against violence and bullying in our schools.
The rally is being described as a safe, nondiscriminatory place where those looking to take action can gather, listen to inspiring speakers, spark constructive conversations and discuss solutions to existing problems.

“We have all been deeply saddened and affected by recent acts of violence, specifically the two stabbings and another incident in which a student was injured that occurred in a matter of eight days, one taking the life of a 16-year-old girl, Valaree Schwab,” organizers said.
Speakers at the rally will include representatives from the schools and the city, as well as former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice.
