Arrest Made In Unprovoked Daytime Face-Slashing On Busy City Street
The victim told New Rochelle police that an unknown man approached him, and without provocation, slashed him across the face.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A suspect has been arrested in the unprovoked face-slashing on North Avenue yesterday, according to New Rochelle police.
On Thursday, at 12:58 p.m., New Rochelle Police Department officers were called to a reported slashing at 222 North Avenue.

At the scene, officers spoke with the victim, who told them that an unknown man approached him, and without provocation, slashed him across the face with a sharp object. The suspect was described as a Black man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

The investigation soon led officers to an address on Hickory Street, where, they located and took into custody 28-year-old Kiwaun Irizarry, of New Rochelle.
A knife was recovered during a search of the area, according to police.

The victim was taken to the local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was charged criminally but will be mentally evaluated, police said.
Irizarry was charged with felony assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
