Bananas' Axe Cabana Now Open In New Roc City

This isn't your grandfather's axe-throwing pastime — Bananas' Axe Cabana adds a high-tech component to the age-old game of skill.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — If testing your skills as a woodsman with trusted friends and family sounds like a great night out, but you would prefer a more sophisticated setting than a cabin in the woods, then we have some great news for you.

Bananas' Axe Cabana is now open at New Roc City in downtown New Rochelle.

The owners say they created Bananas' after first experiencing and enjoying the magic of axe-throwing with their friends and family. They also own trap't Escape Room Adventures in Stamford and Panic Room in both Stamford and Norwalk.

The business says it has 10 axe-throwing lanes, a full arcade with billiards tables and plenty of seating for food and drink. A hot food and beer/wine menu will be added in the next few months. Until then, they will have plenty of snacks and soft drinks for sale.

Each of the 10 axe-throwing lanes can accomodate up to four people. Parties of up to 8 will share two lanes, which is referred to as a pit. Larger parties can also be accomodated with multiple pits. Sessions will run for either one or two hours.

Bananas' uses a projected target system which allows you to select between several game options. The current games offered are: Standard Target, Tic-Tac-Toe, Line-up 4, Zombie Hunter, Duck Hunter and Merry Axe-mas. Photos of the games can be seen here.

At the beginning of each axe-throwing session, your "Axe Coach" will show you two different methods of throwing and will work with your group to get everyone comfortable throwing. The coach will be available throughout your session for any additional help, in addition to being your server for food or beverages.

No outside axes are permitted in the facility. Axes will be provided for all participants. Axe-throwing participants must be at least 16 years old. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult 21 years of age or older. Closed-toe shoes are required and loose-fitting clothing is recommended.

In addition to billiards tables, there will be plenty of games, including IceBall (Skeeball), Basketball Air Hockey, Boxer, The World's Largest Pac-Man and Galaga, Jurassic Park, Super Bikes 3, crane games and a prize machine where you can win an XBOX 5.

The prices for axe-throwing are $32(+ fees) per person for a one-hour session and $52(+ fees) per person for a two-hour session. Arcade games cost between $1.50 - $2. Add-ons are available at the time of booking which the company says will give you the best value. If you don't purchase arcade credits in advance, you can still purchase cards on-site, but the discounts/deals will be lower than at the time of booking. The price for entry into the facility if not participating in axe-throwing is $15 per person, which will give you a $15 credit to use for food, drinks and arcade/pool credits.
