Big Weather Changes For Southern Westchester This Week

SOUTHERN WESTCHESTER, NY — Monday will be so windy you won't be able to get ready for what's coming later in the week. Gusts of over 35 mph today will force everyone to hold onto their hats, umbrellas and steering wheels. And temps will only be in the 60s, compared to an average 71 degrees for May 15.

In fact, a Wind Advisory was issued for southern Westchester and is in effect until 6 p.m. Monday.

But after Monday, the temperature will skyrocket. Instead of feeling like March, it'll feel like July.

On Saturday below normal afternoon temps were in parts of Westchester accompanied by a soaking rain; fast-forward to Thursday and we're expected to be in the 80s to possibly near 90 degrees in parts of the Hudson Valley.

"So if you’ve been waiting for the heat… it’s coming, starting on Wednesday," said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.

Here's what the National Weather Service forecasts for southern Westchester:

• Today: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 67. Breezy, with a northwest wind around 24 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph.
• Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 53. Northwest wind 9 to 18 mph.
• Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 76. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph.
• Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 56. Southwest wind 3 to 5 mph.
• Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 83. Light southwest wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning.
• Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 67.
• Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 88.
• Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 66.
• Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 83.
• Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 55.
