Upon entering this small southern comfort food eatery, you cannot truly appreciate the hard work and dedication that is going on inside the kitchen, where owner Sean Eggleston makes sure that all of the dishes served come with the love and tradition that his mother Helen passed down to him over the years.
The menu is simple, as are the prices and this is just one of many reasons people give for coming back again and again to Sweet Potatoes.

"I had fried catfish, collard greens and rice, he had their fried chicken and mac and cheese, and our 5-year-old had their fried shrimp. We have been going ever since. We've even used them for the holidays and to cater parties. Their deep fried turkey was a winner for Christmas. This place is amazing. You gotta try it. Make sure you try their banana pudding. Truly decadent."—from a customer on tripadvisor.com who in a nutshell also calls the restuarant "amazing soul food."
With menu items such as chicken and waffles, wine braised beef short ribs, fried catfish and apple and peach cobbler for dessert, patrons can rest assured that their bellys will be full from many of these southern classics.
According to the blog hungrytravels.com, author Doug Yuan goes into great detail about his first trip to the restaurant with great photos and description.
"The owner disappeared to prepare my food. Minutes later, wonderful aromas began emanating from the kitchen; I could smell the sweetness from the yams, the waffles and the fried chicken," Yuan said.
Sweet Potatoes also does catering with a three- to five-day notice and can handle occasions with half-size pans serving 10 to 15 people or full-size pans serving up to 30 guests.
Sweet Potatoes is closed on Mondays and due to its size, you may want to consider calling ahead or simply making your order to-go. They are located at 393 North Ave. right off of I-95.
