Blood Drive To Be Held At New Rochelle Library
The American Red Cross said blood is being sent to hospitals faster than it is being donated and surgeries are being postponed.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The American Red Cross said there is a severe blood shortage and has issued an emergency call for blood and platelet donations. The organization said blood is being sent to hospitals faster than it is being donated, and treatments are being delayed and surgeries postponed at hospitals.
To help out, the New Rochelle Public Library will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30 in the library’s meeting room and theater stage.
Eligible blood and platelet donors of all types are needed now, with types O, B negative and A negative especially needed.

Donors need to be at least 17 years of age.
They may drop in or register by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or by visiting www.redcrossblood.org/RapidPass to complete the pre-reading and donations questions online.

Preregistering online reduces the amount of time you will have to spend at the blood drive by up to 15 minutes.
All potential donors should bring a photo I.D. and allow 45 minutes to one hour to complete the donations.
Refreshment are provided and a $5 Amazon.com gift car will be emailed to all those who come to the blood drive.
The New Rochelle Public Library is located at One Library Plaza in New Rochelle.
