Bowman Announces $5.4M Passed by House Will Come to NY-16
New Rochelle, Mamaroneck, Mount Vernon & Yonkers will receive community project funding, if FY22 is passed by the House & President Biden.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Rep. Jamaal Bowman announced this week that federal funds for community projects large and small are making their way to the Sound Shore.
Bowman announced the passing of community project funding of over $5.4 million for NY-16 in the U.S. House of Representatives. These funds will be a part of the Appropriations FY 2022 bill.
"Delivering resources to our communities and helping to meet the needs of our neighbors has been my number one priority, and I am thrilled to have secured over $5 million in new federal funding to reach people where they are and improve our district," Bowman said. "We had the incredible opportunity to listen to our neighbors and work to make sure our federal funding reflects their voices and what's important to them. We did that by collaborating with hundreds of our community members throughout the appropriations process and finding opportunities to turn their pleas for more resources into millions of tangible dollars that will help transform NY-16."

Bowman said that after arriving in Congress, one of the first things he did was to organize outreach efforts to hear what the most pressing needs were in NY-16 communities that could benefit from federal funding. In April 2021, Rep. Bowman submitted ten Community Project Funding requests to the House Appropriations Committee, which was in charge of vetting all requests submitted by members of Congress. The legislation was passed as part of the FY 2022 spending bill and will move to the U.S. Senate for final passage, before reaching President Biden's desk for final approval.
The House-approved allocations for Community Project Funding include:
