The Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle and Picture House Regional Film Center are pleased to announce a new partnership that introduces children, between the ages of 3 and 6, to the art of filmmaking. This collaborative partnership between the two organizations will create a shared community experience through film education programming while providing an underserved population with a one-of-a-kind arts and educational experience. The program will launch in November 2013 and include instruction in acting, screenwriting, story-boarding and animation. The Picture House will incorporate the craft of film-making with the emphasis on process, while also working on a short fiction film that the students will write, act, direct and edit. The subject matter will be taught by film-industry professionals.
“At The Picture House, we believe in the power of movies to inspire, enrich and change lives for the better,” said Barbara Bratone, Executive Director at The Picture House. “Through our film education programs, we aim to provide people across our region with the opportunity to experience the art of cinema in a whole new way and we are thrilled to be reaching a new young population with our new partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle.”
“The goal of our organization is to provide our members with the best possible start in life,” said Quay Watkins, Executive Director for the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle. “Partnerships like this enable our children to enjoy new experiences, explore future careers and have fun in an interactive and entertaining setting. I can’t begin to thank the Picture House Regional Film Center for opening its doors to our Club and its kids.
