College of New Rochelle Welcomes First Co-ed Class
History was made at CNR with first male freshmen students.
NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A historic change took place at the College of New Rochelle Tuesday as the first coeducational freshman class began at the school.
Judith Huntington, the college’s president, said it was a way to not only open the doors to men but expand its mission to more women who might not otherwise consider an all-female institution, according to a video report on FIOS1 News.
The School of Arts & Sciences joins CNR’s other three schools—School of Nursing, School of New Resources and the Graduate School—in admitting male students for the first time, PRNewswire said, making it the largest freshman class in 30 years.
