Comptroller Satisfied Bronxville Field Club Sales Tax Goes To City
The club has a Bronxville postal address, but is located in Mount Vernon, leading to confusion over where the taxes were being allocated.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — After filing a complaint and launching a probe, the Mount Vernon comptroller said he is satisfied that the sales taxes collected at the Bronxville Field Club are properly being allocated to the city.
The club has a Bronxville postal address, but is located in Mount Vernon, leading to confusion over where the taxes were actually being allocated.
Mount Vernon Comptroller Darren M. Morton, said he recently connected with the management of the Bronxville Field Club to review their Certificate of Authority, and New York State and Local Sales and Use Tax (ST-810) filing for the last quarter of 2023.

"My office is appreciative to the Management of Bronxville Field Club for providing this information to alleviate our concerns," Morton said. "We look forward to receiving further confirmation from the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance."
Morton said his office took significant steps to address those concerns, in the interest of ensuring transparency and accountability in the allocation of sales tax revenues from the club. This month, the comptroller's office filed a complaint and Freedom of Information ACT (FOIL) request with the State Department of Taxation and Finance to make sure the sales taxes collected were not incorrectly being allocated to the Village of Bronxville.

The complaint launched an official inquiry into the matter.
The comptroller conducted a physical audit of the pertinent sales tax documents provided by the Bronxville Field Club. He concluded that while the Bronxville Field Club's mailing address is listed as 40 Locust Lane, Bronxville, NY, the tax jurisdiction and physical address on the New York State and Local Sales and Use Tax filing (ST-810), and on the Certificate of Authority is the City of Mount Vernon
The comptroller's office said that in the absence of any additional information or clarification from the State Department of Taxation and Finance that contradicts the findings, his office has concluded that the sales tax from the Bronxville Field Club is being paid to the City of Mount Vernon.
