Beginning Monday, the school district said it will be using the Nnew Rochelle High School kitchen to make 5,000 breakfasts and 5,000 lunch meals a day.

"We will continue to partner with the same community organizations (WESTCOP 95 Lincoln and 345 Main Street) who have been serving food since this crisis emerged," Feijóo said.

There will be two new locations added on Monday, she said. Food will be served from Trinity and Columbus elementary schools from 9 a.m. to noon.

On Tuesday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the mandatory containment area, established in a 1-mile radius of Young Israel of New Rochelle, the synagogue at the center of the coronavirus outbreak in Westchester. The area also includes a portion of neighboring Eastchester.

Large gathering places were prohibited from opening.

New Rochelle had initially closed three schools: New Rochelle High School, Albert Leonard Middle School and William Ward Elementary School. All schools in the Tuckahoe district were closed.

Feijóo made the decision Thursday afternoon to close the remain public schools in the city.

The containment area will be in effect until March 25 at which time the schools are slated to reopen.
