Dog At Center Of Dramatic New Rochelle Sewer Rescue Up For Adoption
Leo was wearing a harness and leash when he was rescued, but unfortunately had no identification or microchip.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Leonardo, the dog that won the hearts of his rescuers, is now looking for one more hero to bring him home forever.
After the emergency line at the Humane Society of Westchester at New Rochelle received a late night call from the New Rochelle Police Department about a dog in the sewer, like his sewer-dwelling namesake, "Leonardo" became an immediate celebrity in the city.
Rescuers say there is no way of knowing how the scrappy pup found himself in the underground hideout, but the police department generously shared their dinner with Leonardo to coax him out from the sewer close enough so that he could be rescued.

Leo was wearing a harness and leash when he was rescued but had no identification or microchip. His new caregivers at the Humane Society say Leonardo has been a "sweet boy" and gets especially excited when he knows he's going out on a walk, though so far, he has managed to steer clear of the sewer system since his last big adventure.
If you are interested in making a home for Leonardo, you can fill out an application and call the Humane Society of Westchester at New Rochelle.
