Drop Off Leavened Products Friday at New Rochelle City Yard

Bread products, not allowed in households observing Passover, can be disposed of Friday at the City Yard.

New Rochelle residents preparing for Passover can dispose of their leavened products—or chometz—in front of the City Yard from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. Friday at 224 Main St.

Councilwoman Shari Rackman, D-District 6, said this is the first time New Rochelle has provided this service to its Jewish residents, but other communities have done it before.

Commissioner Alexander Tergis said a few garbage cans will be left just outside the City Yard. The garbage cans will be emptied and removed at 10:30 a.m.
