Early Memorial Day Weekend Forecast Not Looking Good

A lot can change over the next few days, especially when it comes to the weather, but as of now, the early Hudson Valley forecast for Memorial Day weekend doesn't look all that promising. Tropical moisture is expected to result in rounds of showers and thunderstorms across a large swath of the East during the holiday weekend, according to AccuWeather.com.

While the getaway day and the first part of the weekend are expected to be dry, it likely will not last.

"[I]ncreased humidity and tropical moisture working up the coast, combined with an approaching cold front, can dampen later Saturday into Monday," AccuWeather Lead Long-Range Meteorologist Paul Pastelok said. "At some point, there may be several hours of steady to heavy rainfall for parts of the mid-Atlantic and southern New England."

There's about a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms on both Sunday and Memorial Day, so it's probably best to have alternative outdoor plans — in case of thunderstorms.

• Friday: Sunny, with a high near 83. Light west wind increasing to 6 to 11 mph in the morning.
• Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 64.
• Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 87.
• Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63.
• Sunday: A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74.
• Sunday Night: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 58. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
• Memorial Day: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 68.
• Monday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57.
