Early Morning Traffic Stop Leads To Weapons Charge: NRPD
A 20-year-old New Rochelle man did not have a permit for the Ruger .380 caliber handgun that was found in his possession, police said.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A traffic stop early Thursday morning ended with a 20-year-old New Rochelle man under arrest for felony criminal possession of a weapon.
On February 10, shortly after 2 a.m., New Rochelle police stopped a car driven by Tijer Moreno for a traffic violation near Van Guilder Avenue, close to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital. During the stop, officers discovered that the driver was in possession of a Ruger .380 caliber handgun. Police said he did not have a permit for the weapon and Moreno was arrested.
New Rochelle police have made it a top priority to get illegally possessed weapons off the streets. In January, NRPD participated in a multi-agency operation in which more than 100 ghost guns were seized and 11 people were arrested in Westchester and Putnam counties.
