Fabiola Padilla Rios Named HVIAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week

The College of New Rochelle's Fabiola Padilla Rios has been named HVIAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week

The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) announced its weekly volleyball awards, and The College of New Rochelle’s Fabiola Padilla Rios (San Juan, Puerto Rico/University Gardens HS) has been named HVIAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week.

Padilla Rios posted an impressive opening weekend to her collegiate career at the 12th Annual Greyhound Premiere, held at Moravian College. The rookie averaged 2.5 kills and 6.5 digs per set, adding seven aces, four assists and two total blocks. In the season opener against Alvernia University, she dug up a team-high 24 balls. After a six kill, nine dig performance against Moravian, she tallied seven kills and 19 digs in the match against Ursinus College. In the tournament finale against Centenary College, she produced her first collegiate double-double, slamming home 10 kills to go along with 13 digs.

​The Blue Angels return to action tonight, hosting Manhattanville College. The match is slated to begin at 7:00 PM.
